AHADIYA SCHOOL

The concept of Ahadiyya Schools is to teach Islamic traditions a nd p ra ctices based on Qur'an and Hadees to younger generation. The concept of Ahadiyy a is an absolutely necessary in the present context of the world since where moral values greatly eroded.

Badur Ahadiyya School is also such a Sunday Religious School registered with the Central Federation of Ahadiyya Schools in Sri Lanka where more than 350 such schools registered with, after the fe deration was formed in 1951.

Badur was founded in 1989. Since then it has served the society for almost two decades. Presently around 500 students getting benefit from all the corners of Weligama, the local town. Twenty academic and five non academic staff are rendering there dedicated services absolutely on voluntary basis. More over to that another set of volunteers, though not attending the Ahadiyya regularly, time to time they visit and take part in Ahadiyya activities.

Classes from grade 01 to 11 are conducted here for both male and female students. The syllabus contains the following main subjects

  1. Usoolud Deen - Islamic Law and Principles
  2. Seera and Thareeh - Islamic History
  3. Hadees, Dua & Ilmul Qur'an – Prophet Muhammed (Sal)'s narrations, Supplications, and studies of Al Qur'an

From recent past, another subject, Ahlak is also introduced into the syllabus mainly for grade 10 & 11 students targeting to teach the moral values of Islam in broad.

Apart from the curricular activities various programmes have been scheduled to develop students other skills. Quarter yearly a ‘Kalmanram' ( students' art and activity programme) is conducted to expose the skills of the students and to give them leadership qualities. Another programme ‘One Day Tharbiyya' is also arranged quarter yearly where students are taken for a day out and given a good training on leadership and practically guided to follow Islam in day to day life. Students daily practices at home have to be monitored by their parents and recorded in a book called Muhasaba Record Book. These books are evaluated by the teachers and guided to correct themselves.

By this way Badur Ahadiyya school is trying to turn ones life into a ‘Model Islamic Life'.
